The blog has moved
If you found your way here from simplmodl.wordpress.com, welcome! The blog has a new home.
A while back I started a little blog called “The Simple Model” over on WordPress. It was a place to write down the small technical tricks I picked up along the way — the kind of thing you figure out once, forget, and then spend an hour re-finding later. A few of those old posts have made the move with me, like the PostgreSQL date trick and the data.table row-explode trick in R.
So why move? A couple of reasons. WordPress did its job, but I wanted the blog to live alongside everything else I am building at Cooljackal, on a setup I fully control. That fits the spirit of the old blog: keep it simple. It also gives me a place to showcase all the new and exciting tech and products I get to work with.
The goal has not changed. This is still a practical guide for the technical generalist — short, useful notes aimed at whoever is trying to get something working today. The old posts are here, and there is more on the way.
If you bookmarked the old WordPress address, you can point it at this one instead. Thanks for reading, and welcome to the new place.
